About the event
OUR OUTREACH WILL START PROMPTLY AT 10 AM
WE WILL BE SEPARATED INTO GROUPS TO WORK IN KITCHEN, CLEAN/ORGANIZE, DO GARDENING/YARDWORK, PLAY GAMES WITH CHILDREN AND SENIORS, TRASH PICK-UP AND OTHER PROJECTS
WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN LUNCHES - WILL BE EATING WITH THE RESIDENTS. A SECURE AREA WILL BE AVAILABLE TO STORE YOUR ITEMS. BRING A COOLER AND PLENTY OF WATER. PLEASE LEAVE VALUABLES AT HOME.
EXPECT TO BE THERE TILL 2 PM. THERE IS A PARK NEARBY WE CAN ALL HANG OUT AND RELAX AT AFTERWARDS.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Parking is limited at Hope Gardens. As much as is possible, please carpool for your event.
When you arrive to our campus please proceed to Gate 3. Stay in the right lane. There is a Security Guard in the Guard Shack. The guard will ask for your name and purpose of visit. Please give your name and the name of the group you are Volunteering with. Then proceed to park as the Guard directs.
Dress Code • Closed toe shoes must be worn at all times. • Long pants are required to be worn at all times. ABSOLUTELY NO SHORTS. • Shirts with Sleeves must be worn at all times (no Tank Tops or Halters). • Volunteers must wear clothing that is deemed modest by staff. Please do not wear midriff-revealing tops, low cut blouses, sheer fabric or anything excessively tight-fitting. • Clothing worn by volunteers must not portray alcohol, cigarettes, drugs or sexual or violent themes. • Dangling or loose worn jewelry should be removed before arriving. • Kitchen volunteers will be required to wear a hairnet. • Volunteers with long hair should be prepared to tie their hair back if needed. Confidentiality • Respect the privacy and personal property of our guests. All personal information about Union Rescue Mission guests is strictly confidential except when the guest shares information about matters with legal consequences such as someone being in danger or endangering others. In this case, volunteers must report the information to the staff person in charge. • Taking photos of guests is NOT permitted; however, if you would like to take a photo of yourself or your group, you are permitted to do so as long as no guests are visible in the photo. Permission to photograph guests can only be granted through our Public Relations department on unique occasions. Please contact the Volunteer Department if you have any questions. • In order to protect the safety of both our guests and volunteers, the volunteer relationship with our guests must occur solely within the confines of Union Rescue Mission. As such, volunteers are asked to adhere to the following procedures: • Volunteers are asked not to share personal details such as home address, email address or phone/cell number with Mission Guests. • Volunteers are asked not to befriend guests on ANY social media sites. • Volunteers should not rent real estate to; take in as a roommate, or invite home as an overnight guest, or guests. • Volunteers are not to engage in a private transaction involving gifts, services or money with any program participant. • Volunteers may not accept money or gifts from guests for services rendered. • Do not agree to meet guests outside of Union Rescue Mission’s buildings. • Volunteers are prohibited from transporting guests in their personal vehicle
